Registration Scheme
Tameside MBC operates its own Registration Scheme for Masons, we are registered with the scheme permitting us to work in Tameside Cemeteries.
Tameside MBC is not Registered with BRAMM.
Cemetery Charges
As of September 2021, fees for the purchase of a new plot and interment for a Tameside resident start at £1925.
Further charges apply for the right to erect a headstone and there are a range of options when it comes to the interment of cremated remains and leasing of granite sanctums or columbariums.

Permitted Sizes
Maximum Height = 34″ (850mm) Note – The Height Restriction excludes the plinth
Maximum Width = 36″ (915mm)
Maximum Depth = 12″ (300mm)
Foundations
Raft Foundations exist at all Tameside cemeteries since 1974 – where there is a raft there is no charge for a foundation when erecting a memorial.
Where a foundation is not already in place and one is required it will always be provided by Tameside MBC and not by the Mason (The cost of foundation is listed in cemetery fees shown above, however there will not ‘always’ be a charge levied by the council – check with Dukinfield cemetery office on an individual basis !
Plinths
Memorials are erected on a plinth (fixed on raft foundation)
Height of plinth = 3″ (75mm)
Plinth are permitted in Buff Coloured Precast Concrete (i.e our standard plinths),
York Stone or Granite.
Kerb Sets
No new kerb sets are permitted in Tameside cemeteries.
Re-fixing of older kerb sets on old plots is permitted.
Additional Notes
Tameside apply high service standards in all of their cemeteries. The local authority promises to handle customers in a dignified manner, inspect all memorials annually and respond to all queries within three working days.
